how to pick a wedge heel

I keep pointing out horrifying examples of wedge boots. This time, I want to show you what to look for in a wedge. What works, and what doesn’t. I’m not against a wedge heel, I think they can look sophisticated and elegant when done properly.


When you’re looking for a wedge:
1. Keep it contoured and feminine. The wedge part of the shoe should have some definition.
2. There should be some transition from the shoe to the heel. It shouldn’t look like a continuos block.
3. The shoe should look fitted and not bulky.

Things you want to stay away from:
1. You want to stay away from a wedge that looks like a solid block. It can add too much weight and drag you down.
2. The fit should not be baggy, or look unkept.
3. It should not make you look like Herman Munster.
